Echos in the Basement

April 1, 2011

Let’s face it, it was only a matter of time before we tackled ectoplasm photos. This was the perfect excuse to experiment with drippy smoke effects and old-school aesthetics – two things we’d been itching to take a crack at.

We shook our heads with fast shutter speeds and shot dye in water against background mattes to achieve physical effects; there’s no computer generated imagery in these pictures.

So hit up this Zeppelin track and check them out!

We also put together a few good ol’ horror-themed advertisements because honestly, we missed playing with red stuff (fyi: Vaseline+tissue paper+stage blood = very convincing wounds). We each took a stab at it and yielded two different yet complimentary results – Peter’s: a nostalgic gas-station throwback, and Amy’s: a retro homage to grindhouse schlock.

Up next?….Maybe we’ll play with fire?
